This method will close all apps running in the background and refresh the memory of the phone. So, if the issue is caused by number of apps running in the system, then the issue will be fixed after you do this method. After removing the battery of your S3, press the Power button for 15 seconds to release the electricity from the hardware components and put it back and power it on. While in this state, observe closely if the battery still drains fast. If so, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Try to wipe the system cache partition
Sometimes, due to corrupted system caches the device is unable to run smoothly and might affect some of the features and caused some performance-related issues. So, this time, we will have to delete the temporary files stored in the directory so that newer ones will be created. Although there is no assurance that the issue will be fixed but there were reports from other users saying that after they performed the method the issue is gone. To begin, follow these steps:

  1. Turn off your Galaxy S3.
  2. Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key and Power key.

  7. With 'Reboot system now' highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.
If the battery is already functioning normally after the procedure, it is evident that corrupted caches caused the issue. However, if the problem persist after the method, jump over to the next step.
