Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy S3 red LED flashing constantly

Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy S3 red LED flashing constantly

LED indicators is one of the features that Samsung devices has to make it easier for a user to determine if the device received a text message (SMS) or has a missed call, battery is low and if it is connected to the charger. But sometimes, due to some corrupted files and data, incompatible apps and serious firmware problem the device could no longer function normally.

In this article, I'll tackle one of the issues that reported to us by one of our readers complaining about the red LED light that keeps on flashing even though the device is not connected to the charger. So, this time, the best thing that we want you to do is to determine first what the real problem is through performing the basic troubleshooting procedures on your phone. Here are the methods that you should do:

Step 1: Restart your phone
In restarting your Galaxy S3, we can eliminate the suspicion that a glitch in the system is causing it. Just remove the battery from the device for a minute and press the Power key for 10 seconds to free all hardware components from stored electricity. After you do so, place it back the battery and power on your phone to see if the issue still occur. If so, follow the next step.

Step 2: Boot in Safe mode
As what I've said earlier, issues like this is sometimes caused by incompatible apps in the system that creates conflict in the system and preventing the device from functioning normally. So, by booting it in this environment all third-party apps will be disabled temporarily and only the pre-installed ones will be running in the system. While in this mode and the red LED light is not anymore flashing, then, obviously there's a culprit you need to uninstall to resolve the issue. This is how you boot in Safe Mode:

  • Turn the phone off completely.
  • Press and hold the Power button.
  • When the Galaxy S3 screen appears, release the Power button.
  • Immediately, after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume Down key until the phone finished restarting.
  • "Safe Mode" will be displayed on the lower left corner of the screen.
If booting in Safe Mode is not helping the problem, move over to the next step.

Step 3: Create a backup and reset your phone
Unlike to other methods, this step will bring your device back to its factory default and all files and data you saved on your phone will be deleted. So, before you follow and perform the steps on your phone, we suggest you to transfer all your important files to Personal computer or SD card to make it easier for you to restore if the issue is fix. Here's how:
  • Turn the phone off completely.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons at the same time.
  • When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up and Home buttons until Android System Recovery screen appears.
  • Use the Volume Down key to highlight 'wipe cache partition' and press the Power key to select it.
  • When finished, use the Volume Down key to highlight 'wipe data / factory reset' and press the Power key to select it.
  • Still use the Volume Down key to highlight 'delete all user data' and press the Power key to select the option.
  • Once the master reset is finished, highlight 'Reboot System Now' and hit the Power key one more time.
