App-related problem is quite common in android platforms and there are number of factors needs to consider why this issue is happening. It could be the app itself is not compatible or the battery of the device is faulty that resulted the device to shuts off without apparent reason. So, in this post, I'll tackle the same problem to help those Galaxy Note 4 users that had been bugged down by this problem. That being said, here are the methods that we would like you to do:
Step 1: Perform Battery-pull procedure
In this method, we will try to refresh phone's memory and close all apps running in the background. If your Galaxy Note 4 is experiencing a minor glitch in the system, then this step is very effective. Just remove the battery and press the Power button for 10 seconds. After you do so, place it back the battery and power on your phone and see if it will still shuts down when you open the app. If the problem still persists, proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Charge your phone for several minutes
As what I've mentioned earlier, if the battery is faulty that would be the reason that the device shuts down without apparent reason. So, this time, we suggest you connect your phone to the charger and let it charge for several minutes. When the time elapse, let it connect to the charger and open again any app to see if the issue still persists. If not, then, there is a chance that your battery is defective and triggered the issue. On the other hand, if the method still unable to get rid the problem, move over to the next step.
Step 3: Run your Galaxy Note 4 in Safe Mode
Remember, this method won't fix any issues on your phone, instead, it will only give you hint if a culprit is causing the issue on your phone. It will disable temporarily all third-party apps and letting the pre-installed ones run in the system. If your phone function normally while in this mode, then, obviously there's an app you need to uninstall to fix the problem. This is how you boot it in Safe mode:
- Turn off the phone completely.
- Press and hold the Power button and Volume Down button at the same time.
- When the phone starts to boot, release the Power button but continue to press and hold the Volume Down button until finished restarting.
- Safe Mode will be displayed at the lower left corner; you may release the Volume Down button now.
However, if uninstalling all suspected apps but your phone still shuts down, there is a chance that it is a firmware problem causing it.
Step 4: Perform Master reset
Since, all procedures failed to resolve the problem the last option that you can do is to do a reset. Meaning, you have to delete all files and data saved in the internal storage to bring your phone back to its factory default. But before you can do so, be sure to create first a backup so that you can easily restore once the problem is resolve. Here's how;
- Turn off the Galaxy Note 4.
- Press and hold the Power, Home and Volume Up buttons simultaneously.
- When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power buttons but continue to press and hold the Volume Up button.
- When the Android System recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up button.
- Using the Volume Down button, highlight 'wipe data/ factory reset and press the Power button to select it.
- Now, highlight 'Yes- delete all user data' using the Volume Down button and press the Power button to begin the reset.
- When the master reset is complete, highlight 'Reboot system now' hit the Power button.
- The Note 4 will restart but it will be longer than usual. When it reaches the Home screen, then begin your setup.
