How to fix on Samsung Galaxy S3 Malfunctioning App


Hello readers! Welcome to another guide, wherein we have to discuss another issue sent to us by one of the Galaxy S3 users complaining about the app that keeps malfunctioning every now and then. When it comes to app-related issue there are number of possibilities to consider that problems like this is happening. It could be the app is outdated or the firmware itself needs to be updated so that the applications you downloaded could run properly once it is loaded to the system. That being said, here are the steps that you should do:

Step 1: Perform Soft reset
This is a basic method wherein it discharges all static electricity stored in the hardware components and refreshes the core system of the device. So, if a glitch in the system is causing it, then, through this step it will be fixed without bringing your phone to the tech. Follow these steps:

  1. Turn off the Galaxy S3 completely.
  2. Pop the back panel and remove the battery.
  3. Leave the phone without Power and battery battery for a minute.
  4. Reinsert the battery.
  5. Turn the phone on.
  6. Now, check to see if the application is already working properly.
Like what I've said earlier, if the issue is due to system glitch, then, it will be fixed through soft reset. However, if the problem still persists after you do the method, move over to the next step.

Step 2: Clear the App's Cache and Data
Each app you had been installed have their own caches saved so that it will be more easier for the phone to launch it. So, if these files and data become outdated that may be the reason that your app is not functioning normally. In this instance, we would like you to do the so-called the app reset. Meaning, you will bring back the app to its default settings by deleting all its caches and data. 
  1. From the Home screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Applications Manager.
  4. Choose and tap the App that's having problem.
  5. Tap Clear Data button.
  6. Tap Clear Cache button.
  7. Tap OK.
Now, after clearing the cache and data of the app try to see if the issue is still happening. If so, then, move to the next method.

Step 3: Uninstall and Re-install the problematic App
Although there is no assurance if the issue will be fixed after you do this method but there were reports from other users saying that after doing it their app is already functioning normally. We would like you to uninstall and re-install it to be sure you have the app is compatible and could run perfectly to the system.

Here's how to Uninstall the App
  1. From the Home Screen, tap the Menu key.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Scroll to and tap Applications Manager.
  4. Choose and tap the App that's having problems.
  5. Tap Uninstall updates button.
Here's how to Reinstall the App
  1. From the Home screen, tap Play Store.
  2. Tap the Menu key.
  3. Tap My Apps.
  4. Scroll to and tap problematic apps.
  5. Tap Uninstall.
  6. Tap OK.
  7. Now, reboot your phone.
After you do so, observe closely if the issue still happening. If it is, then, your phone might experiencing serious firmware issue. Proceed to the next step.

Step 4: Reset your phone
Since, all methods is not helping the issue the last option that you can do is to perform reset on your phone. In other words, you have to bring your phone back to its default settings and all files and data on your phone will be wiped out. So, if your phone is having a firmware issue, then, this method will surely fix it. Here's how:
  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the following three buttons; Volume Up, Home and Power buttons at the same time.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power button but continue to press and hold the Volume Up and Home buttons.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home buttons.
  5. Press the Volume Down button to highlight'wipe data/ factory reset.'
  6. Press the Power button to select it.
  7. Press the Volume Down button to highlight 'delete all user data.'
  8. Press Power button to select and start the Power reset. When the Master reset is complete, 'Reboot system now' is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power button to restart the device.
