In this troubleshooting guide, I'll tackle one of the most common issues that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 users were experiencing for the past years, in which, called by many as the bootloop issue. In troubleshooting this problem, there are number of factors that might contribute that the device stuck in bootloop. It could be an incompatible app affects the firmware or the files and data was ruined during the update process. So, to start with the troubleshooting, here are the methods that you should perform:
Step 1: Boot your phone in Recovery mode and Wipe the cache partition
If the issue started after the update, there is a possibility that the system files and data was corrupted during the update and triggered the issue. Doing this method will verify if all the hardware components of your phone are all fine. Also, this will power up all hardware components of your device, so, if this is just a software-related issue, then your phone will boot up. Here's how:
- Turn off the Galaxy Note 4 completely.
- Press and hold the Volume Up and the Home keys together, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power keys but continue holding the Volume Up key.
- When the Android System Recovery shows on the screen, release the Volume Up key.
If the device successfully boots up in this mode, proceed to the next method and wipe the system cache partition. However, after deleting the system files and data but the issue still happening, then try the next method.
Step 2. Create a backup and perform a reset
In this procedure, we will have to bring the device back to its factory settings by erasing all files saved in the internal storage of your device. But the good thing about this method is, if your phone was bugged or has a serious firmware issue, then, through resetting there is a big chance that these issues will be fixed. This is how you do the reset:
- Turn off the Galaxy Note 4 completely.
- Press and hold the Volume Up and Home keys together, then press and hold the Power key.
- When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power keys but continue holding the Volume Up key.
- When the Android System Recovery shows on the screen, release the Volume Up key.
- Using the Volume Down key, highlight 'wipe data/ factory reset' and press the Power key to select it.
- Now, highlight 'Yes - delete all user data' using the Volume Down key and press the Power key to begin the reset.
- When the master reset is complete, highlight 'Reboot System now' and hit the Power key.
- The Note 4 will restart but it will be longer than usual. When it reaches the Home screen, then begin your setup.
However, if the issue still happening after the reset, then, your last option is to seek assistance from the expert or bring it to the nearest shop in your area.
