Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy S5 laggy keyboard after system update

Quick fix on Samsung Galaxy S5 laggy keyboard after system update

Good day readers! Welcome to another article of Samsung Galaxy S5. In this post, I'll discuss an email sent by one of our readers complaining about keyboard lagging after installing a new system. In dealing with this type of issue there are lots of factors to consider that might contribute why the keyboard is lagging. So, what we have to do now is to consider every possibility until we can formulate a solution and bring back the keyboard to its normal pace. Here are the methods that you should do:

Step 1: Perform Battery-pull procedure
Sometimes, due to numerous apps running in the background there is a possibility the firmware will be stressed-out and triggered any performance-related issues in the device. So, through Battery-pull method the memory will be refreshed and close all applications in the system. Just remove the battery from your phone and press the Power button for 10 seconds. After you do so, turn on your Galaxy S5 and see if the keyboard still lags. If so, jump to the next step:

Step 2: Delete the keyboard's cache and data
In this instance, we have to reset the app by deleting all its files and data so that newer ones will be created. So, if the app's files and data was ruined during the update, then this method will help resolve the issue. Follow these steps:

  1. From the Home screen, tap Settings.
  2. Scroll to and tap Language and input.
  3. Tap Samsung keyboard settings.
  4. Scroll to and tap Reset Settings.
  5. Tap Ok.
After resetting the keyboard use again your phone and see if the issue persists. If so, then try the next method.

Step 3: Boot in Safe mode
Remember, booting in safe mode won't fix any issues on your device, instead, it will just give you hint if a culprit is causing the issue. While in this mode, the third-party apps won't be running temporarily in the system. So, if the issue won't occur, then there should be an app you need to uninstall to get rid the problem.
  1. Turn off the phone completely.
  2. Press and hold the Power key.
  3. Once 'Samsung Galaxy S5' appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume Down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume Down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. Safe mode will display at the bottom of the screen.
  7. Release the Volume Down key when you see Safe mode.
However, while in safe mode and the keyboard still function abnormally, follow the next step.

Step 4: Try Wiping the System Cache Partition
Wiping the system cache partition from time to time is recommended to all android users especially if the system has been updated. There were times when new firmware has been installed the files and data will become outdated and that is why different types of performance-related issues occur on your phone without apparent reason. So, this time, we have to delete all old files and data in the directory so that newer ones will be created. Here's how:
  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key and Power key.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Home and Volume Up key.
  4. When the Android System Recovery appears, release both Volume and Home keys,
  5. Press the Volume Down key to highlight 'Wipe cache Partition.'
  6. Press the Power key to select.
  7. When the wipe the cache partition is complete, 'Reboot System now ' is highlighted.
  8. Press the Power key to restart the device.
If the issue is resolved after the method, it is evident that corrupted files and data caused it. However, if your keyboard still not functioning normally after the step, you can proceed to the next method.

Step 5: Backup all your files and reset your Galaxy S5
Since, all procedures you performed didn't fix the issue the last option that you can do is to reset your phone. This method is very effective especially if your device is experiencing serious software issue. But before you follow the steps be sure to create first a backup because all will be deleted.
  1. Power down your Galaxy S5.
  2. Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power buttons at the same time until you see the Android on screen.
  3. Use Volume Down button to highlight 'wipe data/ factory reset' option and press the Power button to select it.
  4. Use Volume Down again to highlight 'Yes - delete all user data and press Power key to select it.
  5. Use the Power button to select 'Reboot System Now.'
  6. When the S5 restarts it should be completely wiped and ready to setup again.
I hope this post helps
