Quick fix on Straight Talk Galaxy S3 unable to receive calls

In this troubleshooting guide, I'll discuss one of the complaints that our reader sent to us saying that it's Samsung Galaxy S3 is not anymore receiving calls. The fact, that the device is able to power on, it seems like this is just minor system glitch or a carrier issue. So, what we have to do now is to figure it out what caused it until we can formulate a solution and fix the issue.

Here's how to troubleshoot Galaxy S3 unable to receive calls

Step 1: Perform Soft reset 
The purpose of doing this method on your phone is to be sure that a system glitch is not causing the issue. Through this, the device memory will be refreshed and close all running applications that might affect the firmware. Just remove the battery as well as the SIM card and press the Power button for 10 seconds. After you do so, place it all back and turn your phone on and try to make a call from other phone and see if your other device can receive the call. If not, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Wipe the System Cache Partition
Sometimes, if the system cache and data has been outdated or ruined that would be a factor that performance-related issues occur on your phone. In this case, what we have to do is to delete all files and data stored in the directory so that newer ones will be created. Don't you worry, all your important files won't be deleted once you follow the steps. Here's how:

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key and Power key.
  3. When the phone vibrates, let go of the Power key but continue to press and hold the Home and Volume Up keys.
  4. When the Android System Recovery appear on the screen, release both Home and Volume Up keys.
  5. Press the Volume Down key to highlight 'Wipe cache Partition.'
  6. Press the Power key to select and wipe the cache.
  7. With 'Reboot System Now' highlighted, press the Power key to restart the device.
After you do the method and your phone still won't receive calls, proceed to the next method.

Step 3: Backup all your files and do a reset
In doing a reset, you have to bring back the device to its factory default by erasing all files saved in the internal storage. But the good thing is, if your Galaxy S3 was bugged or has any performance-related issues, then, this method has a big chance to fix it. This is how you do the reset:
  1. Turn off the device.
  2. Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time: Volume Up key, Home key and Power key.
  3. When the phone vibrates, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key and Home key.
  4. When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up and Home keys.
  5. Press the Volume Down key to highlight 'wipe data/ factory reset.'
  6. Press the Power button to select.
  7. Press the Volume Down key to highlight 'delete all user data.'
  8. Press the Power button to select and start the master reset. When the master reset is complete 'Reboot system now' is highlighted.
  9. Press the Power key to turn and restart the device.
However, after you do the reset and your phone still unable to receive calls, then, your last resort is to call your service provider and let them fix the issue.
