How to fix on Galaxy Note 4 that automatically shutsdown after system update


Power-related issue in android devices is quite common for the past several years and there were tons of reports coming from the users complaining about such issue. If the problem started after the update there is a possibility that the old files and data used by the device become outdated that resulted to shuts down without apparent reason. On the other hand, if the battery of your phone is faulty that would be another factor to consider that the problem is happening on your Galaxy Note 4.

So, in this post, I'll walk you through in troubleshooting your Note 4 and figure it out the real problem and fix it if possible. That being said, here are the methods that want you to do:

Step 1: Verify if the battery is faulty or not

Before you proceed to procedures it is imperative that you should check if the battery is faulty or not by removing it from the device and place it in the table or in a flat surface. While the battery is in the table or flat surface, flip the battery and see if it spins. If it is, then, there is a chance that your battery is defective and that may be the reason that your phone shuts down without apparent reason. You can buy a new battery to fix the issue. However, if the battery didn't spin but the issue still happening, proceed to the next step for further troubleshooting.

Step 2: Boot your Note 4 in Safe Mode

Since, the battery of your phone is fine, there is a chance that a culprit caused the problem. Sometimes, due to app incompatibility to the new firmware that would be a factor to consider also that the device turned off every now and then. So, this time, we will try to boot your phone in safe mode to see if the problem will continue to occur. But remember, booting it in this mode won't fix the problem, instead, it will only give you an idea if there's a culprit causing it.

While in this mode, all third-party apps will be disabled temporarily and only the pre-installed ones will be running in the firmware. Follow these steps:

  • Turn off the device completely.
  • Press and hold the Power and Volume Down keys at the same time.
  • When the phone starts to boot, release the Power key but continue to press and hold the Volume Down key until the phone finishes restarting.
  • Safe Mode will be display at the lower left corner, you may release the Volume Down key now.
But while in safe mode and your phone continue to shuts down, follow the next method.

Step 3: Delete the System Cache Partition

The cache partition is a directory where the files and data that the device were using are stored. So, if these files had been corrupted or outdated there is a chance that different types of software-related issues will occur. In other words, to eliminate this suspicion we need to delete all old files and data stored in partition so that newer ones will be created and to be sure that all of it are compatible to the new system. To do so, follow these steps:
  • Turn off the Galaxy Note 4 completely.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys at the same time.
  • When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power keys but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
  • When the Android System Recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up key.
  • Using the Volume Down key highlight 'wipe cache partition' and press the Power key to select it.
  • When the wiping the cache partition is finished, highlight 'Reboot system now' and hit the Power key.

Step 4: Perform Master reset

Remember, this method should be the last option that you can do if all procedures you performed failed to fix the issue on your phone. Compared to other steps, this one is more complicated because you need to spend time creating a backup of your files stored in the internal storage because once you proceed to the steps all of it will be deleted. But the good thing is, doing a reset is very effective and could surely fix if your device is experiencing software issue. Here's how:
  • Turn off your Note 4.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up, Home and Power keys simultaneously.
  • When the Note 4 vibrates, release both the Home and Power keys but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
  • When the Android System recovery screen appears, release the Volume Up key.
  • Using the Volume Down key highlight 'wipe data/ factory reset' and press the Power key to select it.
  • Now highlight 'Yes-delete all user data' using the Volume Down key and press the Power key to begin the reset.
  • When the master reset is complete, highlight 'Reboot system now' and hit the Power key.
  • The Note 4 will restart but it will be longer than usual. When it reaches the Home screen, then begin your setup.
